Born and raised in the midwest, Colleen Dougherty had spent her early years listening to the vivid stories her parents and grandparents told at the dinner table each night.  Colleen spent her summers exploring the neighborhood with her sister and friends and they would delight in imagining endless stories of make-believe until racing home before the street lights came on! Ever since her earliest days, she loved story telling.

Colleen moved from Naperville, Il, in 2004 to a new life in Phoenix, Arizona where her husband started a new job.  Raising her two boys kept her busy but she always found time to dabble in that "other" world.  

By the time Joanie Adventure came into Colleen's life she knew that she had met someone special.  The relationship between author and subject grew quickly and delighted her children.  The puppies in the book are modeled after the two new puppies that were added to the family in 2008.  Between the two boys and the two puppies, there will always be plenty to write about!

The first book in the series "Joanie Adventure: Picking out Puppies" was completed in 2009.  Colleen is currently working on the second in the series due this summer.
